Job
Summary:
This position will lead the strategic design, development and implementation of data models for complex, enterprise-level applications and systems. The Data Architect will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into tangible data requirements and associated conceptual and logical data models. This individual must be able to collaborate with business users and subject matter experts to gather and clarify requirements and effectively negotiate solutions. The position will provide expert consulting services in the identification and resolution of highly complex data and modeling related issues. The individual must possess prior health care payor experience.

Responsibilities:

1. Leads the design, development and implementation of complex, multi-application transactional and analytical data models at the conceptual and logical levels using standard data modeling tools
2. Translates complex business requirements into tangible data requirements through collaborative work with both business and technical subject matter experts
3. Develops models with an eye towards high performance, scalability, flexibility and usability
4. Ensures data models are in alignment with the overall Enterprise Information Management Architecture
5. Publishes and conducts model reviews and negotiations solutions with business and technical teams.
6. Analyzes and profiles large and complex data sets to discover and/or validate data quality issues and business rules.
7. Develops and documents functional specifications for data transformation based on business rules.
8. Ensures consistency of data definitions across areas of responsibility.
9. Assists with the translation of logical models to physical tables
10. Assists Business and IT associates with creation of complex queries.
11. Actively researches philosophical and technological changes in data management and pursues an understanding of the organization s business plans and strategies. Evaluates the value of these trends to the organization and presents the information to management and other team members.
12. Provides data modeling and other data-related consulting services to less experienced associates
13. Facilitates the development of data-related policies, processes, procedures and standards



Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in IT related field or equivalent work experience
2. 7
years of relevant work experience with data architecture in a very large database (VLDB) environment
3. Highly proficient in the implementation and use of data modeling and metadata management tools
4. Experience utilizing advanced SQL query techniques for ad hoc queries, reports and complex data analysis
5. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, both orally and in writing, as well as the company within span of control
6. Track record of consistently driving projects to completion and taking accountability for work and results. Confronts tough issues and situations
7. Demonstrates and promotes creativity and innovation. Proactively seeks out alternate solutions to business problems
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. Demonstrated expertise with data models to support Cognos (including design of OLAP cubes) and SAS
2. Subject matter expertise in the areas of Big Data and VirtualizationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
