00 (Based on Experience)SummaryWe are looking for an Engineer who will perform engineering work for wastewater projects.
This position performs engineering related duties for all wastewater projects performed at wastewater facilities.
This position will require engineering tasks associated with design, and construction of engineering projects at all wastewater facilities.
These tasks may include, design, design review, administration or work and management of design and implementation, and/or delivery and execution of GLWA self-performed, consultant and/or contract services, for all projects required for the improvement and expansion of the Great Lakes Water Authority wastewater facilities.
Job Responsibilities Interact with operations and maintenance staff to troubleshoot, identify, and determine needs of wastewater facilities.
Perform construction administration tasks for wastewater engineering projects.
Prepare plans, drawings, specifications, and detailed computations for wastewater engineering projects Prepare requests and evaluate proposals for consultant contracts Participate in standards development and definition Evaluate contract submittals Attend project meetings Assist with field and design issues on all projects Review and enforce consultant work and responses Participate in identification of issues, review of equipment and systems, and development of needs Oversee and devise testing related to proper maintenance and operation of equipment Assist management with engineering reports and other correspondence Water and wastewater, distribution and collection processes, equipment and systems Principles and practices of engineering design and construction management Ability to leverage GLWA or other software to improve performance, track projects, and perform job duties Knowledge of AutoCAD (2D and/or 3D) is desiredRequired Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil/sanitary, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering Engineering and construction management experience preferred Two (2) years of experience in a treatment plant or distribution projects E.

(Engineer In Training) certificate Advance to Engineer Level 3 within four (4) years of Level 2 designationOther Requirements A valid Michigan Driver License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain Ability to work irregular hours, to commute to GLWA facilities and work sitesEssential physical RequirementsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
This position requires the ability to climb, bend, twist, carry, stack, push, pull and other efforts requiring considerable physical strength.
This position also requires the ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, walk, stand, or work for long periods of time, demonstrate normal color perception, hear audible alarms, detect abnormal equipment sounds, visually inspect equipment and processes at any time of the day or night.
Employees will be required to wear respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment; perform scaffold, confined space, elevated and underground work.
Employees will also be required to pass a vision test, yearly baseline physical and fit test for respirator/Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to use hands to handle, feel or operate equipment.
