Description The EV/AV and Innovation Consultant participates in and leads consultative and advisory projects supporting GM's new business strategies. General Motors Audit Services (GMAS) provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to strengthen General Motors Company's operations and support informed risk taking. The objective of GMAS is to assist senior management and the board in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by providing independent analysis, recommendations, and information concerning activities reviewed. This role will provide feedback through the performance of primarily consultative and advisory projects with cross-functional clients in new and developing business areas focused on bringing new concepts to market. This role is focused on advisory and consultative work on new and developing business areas to aid in bringing new concepts to market with a foundation of efficient and effective processes and controls. Duties and
Responsibilities:
Develops a good understanding of GM operations worldwide, across functions Begins building relationships to collaborate with the business and service lines - across functions and regions Actively attends and supports walkthrough and process owner meetings Analyzes proposed new business processes including identification of risks, potential gap areas, symptoms and root cause Prepares process narratives, maps and flowcharts of processes based on walkthroughs Documents activities in the STAR system Identifies and clearly communicates potential operational improvements to support client actions Elevates significant risk areas, issues/concerns as necessary within GMAS Performs related work as assigned by lead auditor(s) and/or Manager Completes work timely and in accordance with GMAS Audit Methodology, Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and other applicable standards, and defined plans, budgets, and schedules Develops an understanding of appropriate business aspects, risks, potential fraud, performance requirements and control processes and systems Participates in ongoing professional development Leads meetings with process owners to understand the process Provides guidance to GMAS staff in execution of GMAS Audit Methodology Recommends changes in GMAS process in order to maintain the highest quality standards Serves as a brand ambassador for 'One GMAS' Additional Description Knowledge:
The role will require cross-functional knowledge of GM as well as competitor intelligence. Relevant background knowledge could include initial focus areas such as:
Software Development eCommerce and virtual customer experience Data Privacy - GM requirements and regulatory framework New business development Electric vehicle development and execution Mechanical or Civil Engineering (utility grid optimization) Construction management and estimation EV-specific Sourcing of scarce minerals Commodities purchasing experience, preferably related to BEV rare earth commodities BEV market knowledge including competitor strategies and products Expertise relevant to BEV product programs, challenges and opportunities in the US and abroad. College degree with focus area relevant to start-up activities and EV execution, including mechanical/civil engineering, business development, finance, or others Preferred:
