We are seeking a Press Room Lead to join the team that produces sheet metal components, fixture housings, and hand-fabricated parts that are used in our finished products.
Operations include metal stamping, metal fabrication, etc.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate Press Room operations with production schedule; including job creation, execution, closing and maintaining Epicor work orders.
Maintain Press Room and all related equipment in a clean and orderly condition as required to meet company quality, 5S, production standards and shift-end expectations.
Ensure that operator enters information into Epicor computer system.
Create coding for parts made on the CNC stamping press (Amada) and other equipment added in the future.
Learn all Press Room operations and help staff complete operations as needed when workload requires (current team size:
3 employees).
Review job travelers before job runs and identify all variables before set-up to ensure jobs are run accurately and timely.
Monitor job progression at machine operations to detect quality or quantity problems and make any necessary adjustments to coding or job to remedy.
Ensure that all materials entering or leaving the Press Room are tagged or labeled properly.
Assist operator in preventative maintenance of equipment including worn or broken punches, die alignment, and lubrication.
Act as a mentor to upskill and train new and developing employees.
Act as a role model for safety and encourage fellow employees to work in a safe manner.
Must audit for safety compliance and follow/enforce safety policies.
Conduct root cause analysis to aid press operator in resolving problems.
Check for correct thickness and width during coil loading onto de-coiler.
Work in concert with the Material Team to ensure that all raw materials are tagged/labeled with the correct part number.
Must be willing and able to work in a culture built around continuous improvement and change.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret prints, assembly drawings, travelers and common internal reports.
Experience navigating, reporting, and editing jobs within an ERP system.
Must be well organized and able to work under deadlines.
Must have experience or be willing to learn coding process using Striker (or equivalent) software.
Ability to work hands on in a shop environment and basic machine skills.
Able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
Excellent leadership skills with ability to lead a team.
Excel and computer skills required.
4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Accountability:
Reports to, and will receive work direction from the Plant Manager.
