Scholastica Parish is located in Northwest Detroit.
It is currently a small community with incredible potential for growth.
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION Hands on maintenance and supervision/oversight of all mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems of the parish and its additional buildings and the surrounding grounds.
Responsible for ensuring that preventive maintenance, safety and energy conservation audits are performed annually, on all parish buildings and grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS REQUIRED BY THIS JOB Oversees all parish maintenance, housekeeping, grounds and landscaping.
Guarantees that the church and other parish buildings are maintained in a clean, orderly manner.
Accomplishes this by mopping and vacuuming of floors, cleaning bathrooms, and washing windows.
Also maintains wood furniture that require oiling and maintenance.
Checks all buildings daily.
Makes certain the grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
Responsible for watering and lawn care, snow removal with hand shovels and snow blowers, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis.
Where appropriate, also maintains ball field in a safe and clean manner.
Performs minor maintenance of the Church, Monastery, Convent and/or other church buildings.
Accomplishes this by doing light carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed.
Maintains boilers and air conditioning systems in season.
Adds chemicals to boilers and replaces filters.
Hauling and moving items and picking up parts or other equipment as requested by staff or required.
Assures the collection and disposal of trash and garbage.
Maintains an inventory of supplies for maintenance and cleaning and orders supplies as required.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Oversees all contractual agreements with outside vendors from the bidding process to completion.
QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Associates Degree in Building Maintenance or Building Operator Certification; or a technical degree OR 5 years of experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial institutional facility.
Must have an up-to-date boiler operator license as required by the city of Detroit.
Has successful work experience in minor repair work in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting.
Has work experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a large facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing, waxing.
Has work experience maintaining grounds, parking lots, roads.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to honor and maintain confidentiality.
Willingness to work off hours as needed.
Willingness to be on-call in case or emergencies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
