Interprets blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
This work requires practical journeyman level skills and knowledge as an industrial plumber or pipefitter.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Interprets blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials Installs plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets, water supply & return, process piping, & possibly gas, steam, air, or other liquids.
Assembles and installs valves and pipefittings.
Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation Assembles fittings and valves for installation Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building Uses powered equipment, cameras, & snakes necessary Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, & pipefitters in installing and repairing systems Analyses problems and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair Prepares bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpers Studies and works from drawings, blueprints, rough sketches or oral instructions.
Repairs pipes, valves and traps of heating systems.
Repairs and maintains plumbing including mending burst pipe and opening drains.
Tests pipe systems for leaks.
Taps water and sewer mains and laterals.
Assists in general building maintenance work, as required.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Piping, fittings, valves and other accessories used in the trade, Soldering, yarning, caulking, and wiping joints, service connections and other standard practices, The State and City Plumbing Codes, The principles and methods of plumbing construction.
Qualifications Documented experience as an industrial Plumber/Pipefitter Pay starts at $50,000/year, DOE Some travel required Job Type:
