Are you a skilled technical writer with a deep understanding of mechanical labor operations in the automotive industry? Do you have a knack for creating clear and comprehensive documentation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Technical Writer specializing in Labor Operations (Mechanical)! As a Technical Writer in Labor Operations, you will play a critical role in developing accurate and user-friendly documentation for mechanical labor operations.
Your expertise in mechanical systems, coupled with your exceptional writing skills, will contribute to the creation of valuable resources for our technicians, service advisors, and customers.
Responsibilities:
Research, analyze, and compile information related to mechanical labor operations, including repair procedures, time allowances, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, including experienced mechanics and engineers, to understand labor operations and gather insights for documentation.
Develop detailed documentation, such as labor operation manuals, job sheets, and estimating guides, adhering to industry standards and guidelines.
Create clear and concise step-by-step instructions for mechanical repair and maintenance processes, emphasizing safety precautions and best practices.
Utilize visual aids, diagrams, and illustrations to enhance the clarity and understanding of the documentation.
Review, edit, and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in mechanical labor operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technicians, service advisors, and engineers, to gather feedback and incorporate improvements into the documentation.
Continuously improve the quality and usability of documentation by implementing feedback and conducting regular reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in the automobile field (equivalent to the French BTS MAVA, BTS MCI) or professional qualification in bodywork and paint.
Significant experience in auto body repair (minimum of 5 to 7 years).
Proven knowledge of bodywork and paint, including labor times applied in the garage.
Experience working as a technical writer in the Automotive domain.
Proficiency in 3D visualization tools like 3DVia or Catia.
Strong attention to detail and synthesis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
Knowledge of automobile systems and repair processes as well as aftersales.
Good oral and written expression skills.
Fluency in technical English.
Experience working with editors such as Arbortext, Oxygen, or similar tools is a plus.
