Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Mayor's Workforce Development Board (MWDB) brings together executive leaders across industries and functions to set the strategy for Detroit's public workforce system.
It is led by an Executive Director who is appointed by the mayor of the City of Detroit.
The MWDB has designated Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC), a 501(c)3 with an independent Corporate Board, to serve as the fiscal and administrative agency for federal, state, and local funds allocated and awarded for workforce programs.
Collectively, the MWDB, its staff, DESC, and the network of procured service and training providers, identify and function as the Detroit at Work team.
Position:
This position reports to the Executive Director of the MWDB and is charged with working closely with the Mayor's Workforce Development Board Staff, Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, and a range of stakeholders in the P-20 education space to create meaningful relationships that lead to enhancements of the workforce development ecosystem in alignment with the strategy set by the MWDB.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Promote and develop partnerships connected to the P-20 space; foster relationships among local schools, universities, consortiums, and other community, employment, and education programs to support and market program success Research innovative practices for public agency and service provider coordination and capacity-building that lead to increased literacy and numeracy skills for local residents that lead to greater employment opportunities Participate in and/or act as the staff lead of Mayor's Workforce Development Board Committees as appropriate and requested Establish goals, scope, and processes for aligned initiatives with and that leverage the resources of the Detroit at Work system Develop and implement planning and project management processes to ensure the effective coordination and integration of programs and resources Support grant writing efforts to generate program start up, improvement, or enhancement funding.
Provide insights to ensure grant compliance and tracking.
Stay current on labor market data to formulate and recommend responsive plan Coordinate with City Departments where appropriate and required for program success
Qualifications:
Knowledge of leading education and/or workforce development system policies, programs and organizations Proven experience successfully leading organizational or system-wide transformation projects, working with boards, councils, committees, and other public decision-making bodies to do so Demonstrated ability to effectively allocate resources, manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines Ability to work effectively with the community, public and nonprofit organizations, and all levels of government Exceptional oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of audiences Strong analytical and quantitative skills Required Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required Master's degree in education, Business, Public Policy, Leadership, or a related field preferred At least 10 years in roles of increasing responsibility related to public administration, strategy development, complex project management, and exposure to executives and elected officials.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
