Educational Development Specialist Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Educational Development Specialist at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Essential FunctionsProvide consultation to faculty and instructionalstaff in the design and structure of instructional solutions for inclusive,engaging, and collaborative learning in all modalities, including individualand group consultations related to course design, redesign, and developmentof clear course standards and objectives, including outcomes assessment.
Conceptualizes, creates, and delivers educationaldevelopment workshop sessions (both pedagogical and technical) in a varietyof modalities and formats aimed at assisting faculty members as they developengaging, interactive, and student-centered courses.
Develop and disseminate professionalquality accessible materials, documentation, modules, training, workshops andresources related to learning theory, pedagogy, evidence-based teachingmethods, classroom assessment techniques, educational technology, and qualityassurance.
Participate in campus-wide teaching andlearning initiatives that encourage the use of emerging technology tools andapplications in the development and implementation of innovative,student-centered learning environments.
Define, implement, and coordinateprojects and related research with faculty, and disseminate results andfindings through reports, publications, and presentations, as appropriate,including the presentation of research and effective practices throughworkshops, conferences, consultations, and website resources.
Update and improve one's own knowledge,skills and attitudes pertaining to the instructional design and qualityprocess, faculty development, new models of instruction, emergingtechnologies and related fields.
Collaborate with all stakeholders tosupport the established and maintain a quality assurance process forcontinuous improvement of courses and programs.
Assist with special projects asassigned.
Perform other related duties asassigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education Master's degree ineducation, instructional design, business, communications or another relatedfield or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Doctorate preferred.
ExperienceSpecialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)Minimum 3 years experience consulting with faculty and facilitating workshops, learning communities, and/or faculty/professional development.
Extensive knowledge in the application of adult learning theories and innovative instructional design methods.
Experience designing, implementing, and conducting faculty development programs.
Experience designing courses in Learning Management Systems (Canvas).
Experience with course syllabus development.
Successful online and/or hybrid teaching experience in higher education.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCOURSE DESIGNKnowledge of current course design, assessment, and teaching strategies in a higher education environment.
Experience in collaborating with faculty to develop and implement learning outcomes and use analytical tools to identify the pedagogical needs of courses.
Experience applying instructional design methodology and principles to the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses in all modalities.
Experience utilizing backward course design and universal design for learning.
Advanced skills in instructional design, development, and implementation.
Knowledge of course design principles and practices.
TECHNICAL Ability to develop products that comply with ADA accessibility standards and techniques, as they pertain to online materials within higher education.
Demonstrated experience and competence with instructional technologies, such as the Canvas LMS, Zoom web conferencing and lecture capture.
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Proficient skills in Microsoft TeamsINTERPERSONALDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships required.
Ability to initiate and foster teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere with a diverse population and those from various cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information, exercise tact, sound judgment, diplomacy and discretion.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
