Welding Prototype Operator

Position Description:
Build prototype assemblies and subassemblies to engineering requirements with measurable 100% First Time Quality.
Interpret and understand complex technical documentation such as blueprints and specifications.
Perform and certify inspections & tests in accordance with technical documentation.
Record build data and maintain inspection documentation (written, electronic and photographic).
Utilize computerized equipment (welder, robotic, torque, etc.) and a variety of hand tools to complete assembly and inspection operations.
Able to drive and navigate industrial material movement equipment in a safe manner or willing to be trained to do so.
Participate in program technical reviews with engineering, suppliers and customers.
Strong level of interpersonal / communication skills to work effectively with management, engineering, suppliers and customers.
High level of problem solving skills to identify / perform root cause analysis on build issues and offer recommendations for resolution.
Successfully complete assigned builds and tasks on time to aggressive schedules.
Able to manually lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Comply with all AAM safety policies and procedures.
Available to work overtime and travel if required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to work independently while exhibiting team work skills with co-workers and others.
Position Requirements:
High School diploma
Minimum 5 years experience in automotive, aerospace or prototype manufacturing operations
AWS Certified Welder
Strong creativity in solving engineering issues and leading vehicle development
Knowledge of automotive electro-mechanical systems
Hi-lo and Cart Driver's license
