H&M is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Telecom program operating out of Detroit, Michigan metro area.
The Project Manager is responsible for maintaining and managing the cost and schedule systems and subsequent performance, reporting information as necessary to ultimately meet or exceed project requirements. The Project Controls Manager is a key member of the Project Team. This position involves strong administrative and financial skills and the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the project team(s), customer(s) and other internal and external stakeholders. Position is a long term assignment in the Detroit Michigan metro area.
This position reports to the Senior Project Manager. The position is located at the Detroit Michigan metro area office.

Major Job Elements
Participate in the implementation and execution of the approved Project Management Methodology (PMM) on assigned projects.
Job cost tracking and analysis:
budget updates, early identification of cost issues and identification of appropriate remedial actions, ensure timely and accurate updates, review budget changes, and report to management.
Understanding of construction cost and tracking systems that incorporate earned value management principles associated with cost, labor, equipment, material, subcontractors, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with customer contract terms and conditions, this includes working directly with the customer, attending customer weekly/monthly meetings as needed; prepares monthly billing and provides subcontract and other cost management controls.
Oversee project administrative and business functions.
Responsible for the oversight of the development of design and construction BOM's for material release and tracking in the cost tracking systems.
Estimating and forecasting of cost to complete based on preliminary and final design.
Review subcontractor and supplier documents as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Work with Contract Management to summarize delays, claims, change order requests, subcontractor/supplier back-charges, and other contract requirements.
Has a clear understanding of the contract documents, including commercial and technical specifications, scope, schedule, and performance requirements.
Provides support to the Procurement Group for project-related purchases (specifications, budgets, delivery schedule, performance).
Prepares project cost, and financial reports as required by internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
+3 years of relevant project controls experience in a management capacity, with exposure to project management functions. Construction industry experience required; Telecom experience is preferred.
BS degree in engineering, engineering technologies, Accounting/Business/Finance, or construction management. Education requirement may be offset against relevant hands-on project experience.
Understanding of financial tools
Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required.
Experience / knowledge of construction operations, financial acumen and team-based management required.
Prefer knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for construction companies.
Strong business acumen.
Very detail oriented and skilled at multi-tasking to complete several deadlines accurately and on time.
Excellent computer skills required.
Ability to travel as necessary and on extended assignments to facilitate the implementation of the project management program.
