Accounting Manager at Verathon Medical in Bothell, WA

Accounting Manager - Verathon Verathon is seeking a talented, experienced, Accounting Manager for our fast-paced, high tech, manufacturing environment. This position requires an innovative individual with the willingness to drive change, an ability to take calculated risks, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of associates in cross-functional teams and international cultures. This position will lead the Cost Accounting and Payroll teams of 3-4 people and provide general accounting services. The Accounting Manager will provide leadership both within the accounting organization and across the company to enhance long-term profitability and growth. The ideal candidate will have previous management and accounting experience. This position requires a well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and to take on new responsibilities. Principal Responsibilities: Oversee Cost Accounting and Payroll operations using metrics-driven management tools and process improvement projects to drive excellent business results and develop team capabilities. Oversee Cost Accounting processes including the annual standard cost roll, investigation of monthly variances, recommendations on cost improvements, and ensuring adequate inventory reserves. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP Oversee the accounting cycle close process, including preparation and review of financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries and trial balances. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Partner with and educate business owners, internal and external, to ensure accounting processes are complete, streamlined and scalable Supervise direct reports including coaching, developing and evaluating staff to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting function. Oversee payroll processing, including domestic, international and expatriate employees Spearhead the implementation of new accounting standards, policies and procedures across functional teams within the company Support the design and oversee the operating effectiveness of internal controls in accordance with SOX Ensure successful audits by providing documentation and supporting the process, liaising with company personnel and the internal and external auditors Drive to completion project initiatives to streamline and automate various functions within the accounting department Provide assistance and/or training to foreign subsidiaries Perform other projects, duties and initiatives as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA or MBA preferred 5+ years of directly related accounting/finance experience showing progression of responsibilities and leadership. Experience working in accounting/finance in a manufacturing environment preferred. High degree of ethics, integrity, pride in work, general business acumen, and leadership presence Ability to set goals for their team to align with organizational needs. Experience managing a team to achieve transactional and accuracy goals and drive business results. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
