Telephone Operator

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Provides information of a routine nature; Receives and directs callers to the appropriate area; Provides general telephone and visitor referral services; Refers callers to appropriate facility or program area based on request or nature of the call; Operates the VA Medical Center centralized telephone system; Obtains accurate patient account information in order transfer calls to appropriate area; Maintains records of toll and long-distance calls; Operates internal and external paging system; Performs other related duties as assigned; Work Schedule:
Rotating shifts Monday- Friday; 8am to 4:
30pm, 4pm- 12am midnight, 12am midnight- 8am only. Rotating shifts to include weekends & holidays:

Experience:
Have at least one (1) year of general experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to GS-03 grade level in the Federal service. The experience could have been progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This may be paid or non-paid experience. NOTE:
Your experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR Education:
Have successfully completed Two (2) years of education above the high school level (education may have been obtained in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school). NOTE:

Have an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience which meet the total qualification requirements for this grade level. NOTE:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
