This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Detroit Field Office, Mission Support Division, located in Detroit, MI. This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide substantive clerical support to CBP management. This position starts at a salary of $47,492.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $61,735.00 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $61,735 (GS-07, Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:
Assisting in one or more administrative support areas which include budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, and records and files management Using various software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases Developing, maintaining, and preparing reports and office records Analyzing segments of various issues or problems; verifying and assessing relevant facts from several sources and examining the documentation
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Coordinating administrative requirements with offices served Maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining the most up-to-date information on procedural requirements Assisting with routine administrative matters Maintaining databases Identifying trends or patterns and compiling narrative/data reports Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 09/11/2020. The assessment includes a cut score based on the minimum level of required proficiency in these critical general competencies. You must meet or exceed the cut score to be considered.
